Claire and James’s Wedding 12th September.
We are loving married life! I just want to say how thrilled we are that we chose Woodhall as our wedding venue, it is a really beautiful very special place and made our day even more perfect!!
Our wedding story….
James and I met almost 3 years ago when we were both attending a fancy dress party, I was dressed as a fish and James was dressed as Hong Kong Phooey…!!
It took a lot of courage for us to speak to each other as we were both very nervous and ridiculously shy!! Thankfully we have some lovely meddlesome friends who took it upon themselves to get us together!!
After our very nerve wracking first date, the rest is history…. we both very quickly realised that we were meant to be together and have barely been apart since!!!
In August every year James and his family go camping in Norfolk, its a fab tradition that the whole family schedule in their calendars!! In 2012, for the second year I accompanied James to the camping trip… little did I know I would arrive with my boyfriend and leave with my fiancé!!!
On the 28th August 2012, James dragged me (I may have been slightly hungover from a few glasses of wine the night before!!) up across the sand dunes to sit and have coffee on a secluded beautiful beach first thing in the morning. It was there, while I was in my pj’s that he asked me to be his wife!!!!
Just over a year later and our wedding day was on the 12th September 2013 at Woodhall Manor. There are no words to describe how perfect our day was, the weather was unbelievable – 21 degrees and sunny following a week of wind and rain!!
We were married under the beautiful dovecote which was my absolute dream come true!!!!
The loose theme for our day was ‘Country Fete’ and we had lawn games such as an Aunt Sally, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4 and Croquet which was all so much fun!! We wanted everything to have a country fete feeling and had lots of homemade bunting and decorations made by our very talented friends and family!
We spent a year planning our wedding, and although at times it was stressful it was an amazing experience and seeing it all come together on the day is the best feeling!!!
We knew the second we stepped foot on the grounds of Woodhall that it was our venue and we never regretted that decision!! The support from the team was wonderful and Trish Clarke was an amazing Wedding Planner who couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a perfect day!!
My advice to Brides & Grooms to be planning their weddings would be to enjoy every second, take lots of time to look at lots of different options and make lists….lots of lists!!
As I mentioned earlier, seeing all of your hard work come together on the day is an amazing feeling…but nowhere near as amazing as knowing you have just married your soulmate surrounded by the people you love the most.
Love, Mrs Dorman (est September 2013 :-D) xx
